What changes the price
- Size. The equipment has to match your home’s heating and cooling load, not just the old unit’s label.
- Efficiency. Higher SEER2 (air conditioners) and AFUE (furnaces and boilers) ratings cost more up front and less to run.
- Ductwork, venting and gas lines. Repairs or changes to these add to the job.
- Electrical work. Some systems need a new circuit or disconnect.
- Zones and controls. More zones mean more equipment and more labor.

Common questions
Is it better to repair or replace?
It depends on the age of the system and what failed. If a furnace is under about 15 years old and one part failed, repair usually wins. At 15 to 20 years or more, or with a cracked heat exchanger, replacement is usually the better investment. For an air conditioner, the line is closer to 10 to 15 years. We’ll give you both options so you can decide.
Do these prices include installation?
Yes. The ranges above are installed prices for typical homes. Your written quote lists the equipment, labor and any extra work, like ductwork, venting or electrical changes, before you commit.
Why might my quote be higher or lower?
Mostly because of size, efficiency and the condition of your ductwork, venting, gas line and wiring. A small home with good ductwork lands near the low end. A large home, a high-efficiency system or extra work pushes it higher.
