Choosing The Right Heat Pump System For Your Home
A dual-fuel system pairs an electric heat pump with a gas furnace. The heat pump handles cooling and much of your heating, and the furnace takes over on the coldest days. It’s a common upgrade when an older AC needs replacing and the furnace still has years left. We’ll look at your home, your equipment and your fuel costs and give you options in writing. Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Many current heat pumps are built to heat efficiently in cold weather. On the coldest days, most Michigan homes keep a gas furnace or other backup heat, which is why dual-fuel systems are popular here. We'll recommend the right setup for your home.
An air conditioner only cools. A heat pump uses the same kind of outdoor unit to cool in summer and, running in reverse, to heat in winter.
It depends on the size of the system, whether it's ducted or ductless, and whether it pairs with your existing furnace, so we quote every heat pump after seeing your home. Estimates are free, and financing is available, subject to credit approval.
Yes. A service call is $110, or $175 after hours, and covers the trip to your home. Diagnostic work and any repairs are added on top, and you approve the price before we start. Members of our ESA maintenance plan pay $0 for service calls.
Ductless mini-splits are heat pumps too, and they're a good fit for additions, bonus rooms and homes without ductwork. See ductless mini-splits.
