Repair or Replace? Our Rule of Thumb
If your AC is under about 10 years old and the problem is one failed part, repair usually wins. If it’s 10 to 15 years old or more, needs frequent repairs, has a failed compressor, or an older system has a refrigerant leak, replacement is usually the better investment. Most central air conditioner replacements cost $5,000 to $8,500 installed, depending on the size and efficiency (SEER2) of the system and your home’s ductwork. Replacement estimates are free, and if you had a service call or diagnostic visit first, we credit those fees toward your new system.

Common causes are a dirty filter, a frozen indoor coil, low refrigerant from a leak, a failed capacitor or a dirty outdoor coil. Check your filter and thermostat first, and make sure the outdoor unit is running. If it still won't cool, call us.
Usually a clogged condensate drain line or a damaged drain pan. Low refrigerant can also freeze the indoor coil, which then melts and overflows. Turn the system off and call us before the water causes damage.
