Position Summary
Provides planning and management in the safe and efficient service of HVAC equipment, components and systems in commercial and/or residential settings. Utilizes human resources effectively to manage workload, achieve production and margin objectives and provide HVAC services to customers and contractors.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Manages and develops the Service staff, including involvement in hiring, terminating and disciplining of employees, scheduling employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff meetings, counseling employees, evaluating performance and directing work assignments to ensure effective production.
· Evaluates workload and schedules service work in a way that best utilizes manpower and maximizes profits.
· Resolves customer issues and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
· Ability to create and manage budgets.
· Ensures that materials and equipment are ordered and dispensed for scheduled jobs. Schedules repairs for parts to ensure minimal down-time in job completion.
· Conducts research and participates in the marketing process of the department.
· Generates reports and measures of departmental operations as well as records on all inventory, tools and vehicles. Reviews reports with management.
· Instructs crews on proper use of materials and quality workmanship.
· Reviews payroll records to ensure that technicians are paid properly.
· May conduct job site surveys.
· Ensures that employees have proper tools for the job and that they are properly maintained.
· Assists the dispatching operation to ensure appropriate technician selection for this type of service.
· Monitors preventive maintenance of vehicles to ensure proper operation.
· Evaluates staff to determine training requirements. Provides on-the-job training and support to employees.
· Oversees facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring that assets are protected and controlled
Requirements
The HVAC Service Manager should possess the following skills, characteristics and abilities:
- Excellent customer service and sales skills
- Five plus years HVAC Management related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Some post-high school education from college, trade school or military preferred
- Exhibit an in-depth knowledge and understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Has the ability to read, interpret, utilize, and train on manuals, schematics and control circuits related to HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Technical aptitude with knowledge of local codes and an ability to use resources at hand to find solutions
- Excellent leadership skills to enhance team productivity and standards of work produced
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and strong conflict management skills
- Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments
- Good computer skills: knowledge of and proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and general software navigation
- Possess a strong personal desire for improvement; and the desire to motivate HVAC technicians to be better tomorrow than they are today
- Have a clean, neat and professional appearance; a top performer who can instill pride in workmanship in himself and in others
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and background
- Ability and willingness to work non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 – $89,407.00 per year
